ABOUT
scope
The project ask was designing and constructing a bodice with french lining using fluting and ruching.
goal
I based my design process around using color and textile manipulation techniques to create my own textile.
PROCESS

textile development
I experimented with sewing bias strips of georgette together and played with the gather ratio until the strips started looking like 3D stripes.
construction
The bodice has a french lining with boning support. The 3D stripe textile was attached by hand with a pick stitch on one front panel and two back panels. I matched the stripes on front and back at both side seams. I attached all facing and lining panels, sewed the lining and facing together at the top, attached the hook and eye strip at center back, and closed the garment with a slip stitch.
